Stephen Chang Announces Candidacy for Leander City Council, Place 1

LEANDER, TX – Stephen Chang today announced his candidacy for Leander City Council, Place 1, and issued the following statement:

“I'm running for Leander City Council because I believe in the potential of our growing city and the importance of thoughtful, experienced leadership that prioritizes the needs of our community. As one of our state and our nation's fastest-growing cities, Leander is at a pivotal moment, with opportunities to shape its future in ways that benefit families, businesses, and the next generation.

“I'm committed to safeguarding your hard-earned tax dollars, promoting smart growth, improving infrastructure, supporting public safety, and ensuring transparency and accountability in our local government.

“Leander is the city that I'm proud to call home. As someone deeply invested in this community, I want to bring experience, fresh perspectives, practical solutions, and a collaborative spirit to the City Council to help Leander thrive so that it's a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family, all while preserving its unique character.”

Chang is a graduate of Bethel University, where he earned a bachelor's in political science; Texas Tech University, where he earned a master's in strategic communication; and Texas A&M University's Bush School, where he earned a master's in public service and administration as well as a graduate certificate in public management. He also completed the Senior Management Program at the University of Texas at Austin's LBJ School.

Stephen has lived in Leander since 2021, and in 2023 was appointed by the Mayor and City Council to the Leander Economic Development Committee, where he currently serves as Vice Chairman.
